About Us

Located in Louisville, Kentucky, Hat Haven is a 2nd generation, custom millinery hat shop specializing in one of a kind headpieces. We have created custom hats and fascinators for the Kentucky Derby, weddings, runway, and other events. Hat Haven has made custom hats for Justin Hartney (This Is Us) and his wife, Sofia Pernas, as well as, Alicia Etheredge, wife of New Edition’s Bobby Brown. Our hats have been featured in the New York Times, People Magazine, Business First, the Seattle Times, and the Voice Tribune.

Hat Haven hosts an annual pop up shop at the Hyatt Regency Louisville. Held the weekend of the Kentucky Derby, you can shop our large selection of ready to wear ladies’ hats, fascinators, men’s hats, and boutonnieres. Our design center will be open to add the perfect finishing touch to your hat.

You can book an appointment for a custom hat consultation, or you may choose to have one of our ready to wear hats tailored just for you.

For local clients, we recommend bringing your outfit to your design appointment. For our out of town clients, we are available via video conference. We would be happy to assist you during the selection and design process. We will also advise you on how to wear and care for your headpiece.

**We stop taking custom orders 3 weeks before the Kentucky Derby in order to prepare for our pop up shop.**

Free local delivery or hotel drop off for out of town guests is available! Message us for details.

We are a small local business and available by appointment only. *Texting is the best way to contact us.* Please message us to set up an appointment or video call. 502-957-9411

All sales are final. Due to health reasons and the custom nature of our products we do not offer returns, refunds, or exchanges. When you purchase a hat or fascinator you acknowledge that you understand this policy.

Choosing the Right Hat

HAT STYLES: WHICH WILL SUIT YOUR FACE SHAPE?

OVAL

The length of your face is equal to one and a half times the width of your face.
Slightly wider at the mid-points of the sides (cheekbone area, right below eye level). Your jawline is softly rounded, not too narrow yet not too wide. Your jawline is slightly narrower than the width at your temples.

YOUR HAT TYPE:
Most hat styles will suit your face shape. Also, large brimmed hats; either floppy or straight, equal to or narrower than your shoulder width.
-
ROUND

Your face shape is almost as wide as it is long. Shorter than oval with a rounded jawline.

YOUR HAT TYPE:
You will suit irregular brims (to create an angle) and prominent crowns. Designs with vertical features such as feathers in order to elongate your face.
-
RECTANGLE

Your hairline is of approximately the same measurement as your jawline.
Your face shape appears strong and angular. If your face appears long, it is probably classed as a rectangle.

YOUR HAT TYPE:
You will suit hats with full brims and uplifted brims. You should avoid
high crowns and small brims that make your face look longer.
-
SQUARE

Your forehead is of approximately the same measurement as your jawline. Your face shape appears strong and angular.

YOUR HAT TYPE:
You will suit an irregular brim with/or a prominent crown which will make
your face appear longer. Try wearing your hat at an angle to soften your face.

HEART

You are wider at the temples and forehead and narrower at the chin.

YOUR HAT TYPE:
You will suit hats with prominent crowns to help make your forehead appear narrower and medium brims to prevent your chin looking narrower. Try wearing your hat on an angle.
-
DIAMOND

You are widest at the cheekbones with a narrow forehead and equally narrow jawline.

YOUR HAT TYPE:
You will suit hats with medium brims to help avoid making your forehead or chin appearing narrower. You will also suit hats with a side detail to
help visually widen your forehead.
